More than boss hunts
OfficialThe September Q&A also describes story experiences, playing music together and relaxing in hot springs. These broaden the announced activities beyond boss combat; schedules, rewards and interaction rules remain unknown.
Hunt travel and content plans
4Gamer observed mounted travel and pursuit between encounters.
In its developer interview, the team describes instanced co-op as the core, alongside story-focused larger maps and other mission formats. These are development plans reported by 4Gamer.
How combat works
OfficialHoYoverse confirms cooperative action, Skills, Styles, Weapons, and the ability to adapt combinations and builds for different enemies and team needs.
The official description also connects defeating formidable adversaries to resources that unlock new Skills and Weapons.
What the trailer visibly shows
ObservedThe reveal footage visibly includes multiple fighters, weapon-like equipment, enormous creatures, and a large-form transformation-like moment. Those images are evidence of what is shown, not official names for classes, weapons, or abilities.
Gamescom demo observations
ObservedA Gamescom hands-on report describes a development build with four players facing boss encounters, including teammate revives and cooperative attacks. This records a demo observation, not a final party-size, revive-system, or ability specification.
A separate first-hand PC Gamer hands-on describes a Hub where solo players or groups select Contracts before travelling to spacious outdoor hunt areas for lengthy, multi-phase boss fights. It is a useful record of the demo loop, but Hub, Contract and the exact encounter structure are not yet announced as final systems.
Sept 2 hands-on observations
ObservedGamesRadar's first-hand session describes three boss encounters, including Qiongqi and a final fight against the dragon Maldrake and its armored rider. In the reported development build, the rider dismounted and the team split attention between two targets across multiple phases.
The same report describes a dedicated healer who could lock onto one ally for sustained healing or heal nearby teammates in a burst, alongside magic projectiles, ice attacks and a large beam. These are kit observations, not character names, official Skill names, values or final role requirements.
Coordinated attacks
ObservedGamesRadar also observed flashy Joint Execution moves in which multiple players combine for a cinematic strike. The label and presentation belong to a media hands-on; the final trigger, rules and official system scope remain unannounced.
Is Nodusfall open world, a Soulslike, or an MMO?
OfficialHoYoverse has not officially classified Nodusfall as an open-world game, Soulslike, or MMO. Comparisons to other games are player shorthand, not confirmed genre labels.
How difficult is Nodusfall?
OfficialHoYoverse aims to make entry accessible to newcomers while preserving depth in controls, teamwork and builds. That is a design goal, not evidence of selectable difficulty settings or a finished balance model.
